DIAGRAM 2: Sew orange strips. If necessary, square up the block to 10½˝ × 10½˝. DIAGRAM 3: Sew yellow strips. If necessary, square up the block to 12½˝ × 12½˝. DIAGRAM 4: Sew green strips. If necessary, square up the block to 14½˝ × 14½˝. DIAGRAM 5: Sew blue strips. Repeat Steps 1–5 to make the remaining 11 blocks. Sew 2 linen triangles to the upper left and lower right sides of the Log Cabin block. Then sew 2 linen triangles to the upper right and lower left sides of the block and press the seams open (Diagram 6).

Start in the middle of one side and use a walking foot. Stop sewing ¼˝ away from the corner, backstitch, and cut the threads. Start stitching binding. Fold the binding up at a 45° angle. Fold binding up. Pin in place. Align binding with next side. Starting with a backstitch, sew from the upper edge of the quilt and over the folds. Continue sewing, repeating Steps 2–5 for each corner. Overlap the binding strips by 2½˝ and trim excess fabric away. Trim excess binding. Trim the seam allowance to ¼˝ and press the seam open.
