2 years ago, I was recovering from a bad relationship and looking to start dating again.
I am a facebook addict, so I spent a lot of time on there chatting with friends. One day, a fine gentleman sent me a friend request and we started chatting. I put him off at first because I was sure that he was just looking for someone to talk to.
We started texting and decided to meet up at a local pool on a hot summer day. I brought my brother, and he brought his best friend. We had a lot of good laughs, and a great time.
We both left to our evening plans, but no later than a day, Kyle texted me and asked me to go to dinner with him. We went to a great Mexican restaurant and shared laughs, a few awkward silences, and stories. He then took me mini-golfing, and we watched a few movies at my house. When it got late and time for him to go, we stayed chatting on the porch. He ended up kissing me out of nowhere, and I had a feeling from that point that this man would be in my life for a long time.
We started dating exclusively on July 31st, 2011. We spent as much time as we could together, and we eventually moved in together in May 2013. We were taking some big steps in our relationship, so I started to question whether he was committed or just looking for a companion so he wasn’t lonely.
Kyle’s birthday is on October 13th, and I had asked him if he wanted to do anything. He said he wanted to go out on October 19th, which was sweetest day. He wanted to go to a local sports bar, so I thought it was just a date night for us. We got there, and my family was standing in the door way, as well as his family waiting for us to get there.
First weird thing. Mom was acting suspicious and Dad was video taping, so I should of got a hint. Kyle wouldn’t sit down next to me, and his hands were shaking. I told him to have a seat and relax. He said he couldn’t, because he “had the nerves”. Before I knew it, he was in front of me asking if I wouldn’t mind spending the rest of my life with him. Of course, I immediately started crying and just said “yes” over and over again.
It was small and intimate, but it was the only people I would ever want to be there for this event. I am so excited to start forever with Kyle, and planning a wedding should be a great adventure.
